Plan A Trip To Europe - 6th Grade
I feel that these two lessons work well together. In the 4th grade, students are developing a foundation in successfully reading maps. They demonstrate their ability to read a map by planning a trip using an Indiana state map. Later, when the students are learning about Europe, they plan another trip. This is a way for the students to tour Europe without actually having to go there. They will take the skills they learned in the 4th grade and apply them again. Because they have the foundation needed, time can be spent on enriching the lesson by producing an area map, PowerPoint and a brochure/flyer.
